All
interested Windsor residents are invited to
take part in a Community Forum that will
focus on childcare and other needs of
families and young children in Windsor. The
open discussion, which is sponsored by
Windsor’s Healthy People Initiative, will
take place on Thursday, March 14, from 6:00
to 7:30 p.m. (with registration and
refreshments from 5:30 to 6:00 p.m.) in the
Town Council Chambers of the Windsor Town
Hall, 275 Broad Street. Activities and
supervision for children will be available
in the Town Hall for those with young
children, and sandwiches will be served for
those attending the session. Transportation
will be provided if necessary.
The discussion will focus on questions
related to the availability and
accessibility of child care, how early child
care services can be improved, the costs of
child care, and other needs of Windsor
families with young children.
The Community Forum is the first event
planned as part of a research and planning
process funded by a Discovery Grant from the
William Caspar Graustein Memorial Fund. In
order to gain insight and direction
regarding the needs of the town’s families
and young children, Healthy People hopes to
incorporate the perspectives of a wide
diversity of Windsor residents through the
Community Forum and through focus groups
that will take place throughout town in the
weeks following the forum. The third and
final event of the program will be a session
at which participants will be able to hear
about the conclusions reached by the focus
groups and will help formulate the
recommendations to be included in the final
planning document.
Anyone who would like to attend the
Community Forum or who would like additional
information is asked to call Ceila Robbins
at 687-2000, ext. 272, by Monday March 4,
and let her know who will be attending,
along with addresses and phone numbers and
whether they will need child care. If child
care is needed, please provide the ages of
the children involved.
