Leaders-In-Training

For High School Youth

High School youth have the opportunity to gain on the job experience as interns in the Youth Services Bureau while attending workshops in vocational skills. Youth work as project managers of the middle school youth in the Community Leadership Club, and, design and run the Youth Services Bureau’s two main annual events, “Night of 1001 Pumpkins” and “A Winter Festival.

Hours: Meets weekly on Fridays; 3:00PM – 5:30PM.

Location: L. P. Wilson Center, 599 Matianuck Ave., Windsor

Transportation:  Provided by town van from Windsor High School to L. P. Wilson Center. Parents must pick up their children from L. P. Wilson Center at 5:30PM. Youth meet the Town of Windsor van at the high school doors by the tennis courts.

Cost: $20 per semester.

Summer Leaders-In-Training

For High School Youth

This opportunity to intern in the Youth Services Bureau’s summer camp program is for youth 15 through 18 who have completed at least 9th grade. Sessions include training in job skills, leadership, group dynamics and recreational programming. Youth who are enrolled in the L.I.T program go on all field trips with the day camp and assist in teaching activity classes while the camp is at the L. P. Wilson Center. Session follow the schedule for "Super Summer Adventures" (see schedule at summer programs). Youth may apply by the session but, must be able to commit to both weeks of a session.

Hours: Monday through Friday; 9:00AM – 5:00PM

Location: L. P. Wilson Center, 599 Matianuck Ave., Windsor

Cost: $50 per two-week session.
