Step 1: Identify boards and commissions of interest
Get a listing of all board and commission
descriptions for the Town of Windsor (schedule/description
button) and read them to
identify which board or commission you may be interested in.
Becoming involved in a committee that interests you will
help you remain focused and be an active participant. Either visit our website at
www.townofwindsorct.com
or contact the Town Manager’s Office at
860-285-1800.
Step 2:
Investigate
Is there a vacancy? (please
use link)
When and where do they meet? www.townofwindsorct.com/calendar/index.htm
Are you willing to commit the time needed to be a member
of that committee?
Who appoints members? (please see below)
Step 3: Get support and make contact
Each Town Committee recommends approval of new
appointments to the Town Council. Both town committees
welcome unaffiliated voters and will aggressively appoint
them to the committee or board of their choice.
- Contact the Democrat Town Committee Chair,
Timothy Fitzgerald at 688-7392
- Contact the Republican Town Committee Chair
David Raney at 860-688-2943
- Send an e-mail to
towncouncil@townofwindsorct.com
stating your
interest
Contact the Town Manager’s Office at 860-285-1800
Step 4: Fill out an application and submit it.
Apply for a
membership.
Step 5: What happens
next?
The application will be sent to the
appropriate Town Committee Chairperson in regards to your
party affiliation. From there, the Chairperson will
give a listing to the Town Council recommending individuals
to be placed in the current vacancies. This process
may take a little while, as the Town Committee meets once a
month and at that time reviews the recommendations.
When you are appointed as a member of a
board or commission, you will receive a letter from the
town. Further instructions are outlined on the
letter which need to be fulfilled before you can become a
voting member of the board or commission you have been
appointed to.
