- Human Relations Commission sponsored town vigil to honor losses due to events in Charlottesville, Virginia
- Sunday, August 20th, 2017
- 1:00 PM - 3:00 PM
The Town of Windsor Human Relations Commission will hold a vigil honoring the three lives lost in the Charlottesville Virginia Tragedy and those injured. We invite the entire Windsor community and our sister cities and town to come out in support along with our Connecticut State Troopers to honor the slain officers.
We ask that people wear the color purple or wear a purple ribbon to honor Ms. Heyer. We will have Dr. Steve Lipman to perform the Star Spangled Banner. Pastor Nicole Grant Yonkman of First Church of Windsor will offer words of prayer and healing. The Human Relations Commissioners felt this was much needed as we are a town very rich in culture and diversity and the FIRST Town in CT.
Mayor Donald Trinks and other local, state and federal officials will offer words in recognition of Windsor being a community of inclusion, passion and, this is a vigil and not a demonstration, said Judge Washington, Chair of the Town of Windsor Human Relations Commission. He said. “We can do better!!”
The vigil will take place on the Windsor Town Green from 1:00 to 3:00 PM Sunday, August 20, 2017. Donation baskets will be available and sent to victims’ family in a show of solitude. Contact Windsor Town Hall for more information (860) 285-1805 or Ask for Judge Washington to contact you.
