The Town Green Improvements project is proposed in order to eliminate safety concerns, improve handicap accessibility, drainage and aesthetics, and upgrade the electrical and sound capabilities for events on the Green. This work will include replacing sidewalks and brick on the north-south sidewalk from the Post Office drive to the Library, resetting the brick at the portico area, replacing the decorative street lights and placing the wiring in conduit, adding electrical and sound outlets to the Green, and replacing the east-west sidewalk from the portico to Broad Street.

This part was completed by G.E.G. Construction. Chicopee, MA and Electrical Contractors Inc. Hartford, CT The next stage of this work includes installing curbing on the Eagle Green and reconstructing the Library/Church driveways. The curbing along Broad Street will be straightened and the sidewalks and brick snow shelf will be replaced, along with installing handicap ramps at the crosswalks. The estimated cost for this phase is $402,000 and is tentatively scheduled for the 2008 construction season, March though October.
