Fiscal Year 2008


  1. To establish “green technology” benchmarks for the facilities within Northwest Park as a cooperative initiative with Buildings and Grounds.

    A plan of action has been developed by the Northwest Park staff. Further discussion with appropriate Windsor staff to be scheduled.

  2. Successful implementation of an Adopt-A-Park Program.

    The Adopt-A-Park program has been developed and the department is now seeking volunteer groups to adopt parks around town. Volunteer groups can be churches, civic organizations or neighborhoods.   3. Successful relocation and program implementation of the Windsor Challenge Course.

    The relocation of the Windsor Challenge Course was complete on time and under budget. Use of the new Challenge Course began in September 2007.

  4. To initiate an ecotourism program that provides family trips to unique natural areas in New England.

    The ecotourism program was developed and implemented. The first trip offered was, Secret Lives of Tidal Pools which took place on Outer Island in Stony Creek, CT. Three other trips are scheduled for spring 2008.

  5. Initiate the Youth Service Corps to maintain parks and public spaces.

    The Youth Service Corps was developed and completed more than 900 of clean up activities in various town parks.
