FY 2006 Highlights
Since the adoption of a
revised False Fire Alarm
ordinance in 2003, false
alarms chargeable under the
ordinance have been reduced by
45%.
More than three dozen
properties have been inspected
and have had completed
pre-plans provided to the Fire
Department as a result of a
coordinated property
inspection and pre-plan
development program. This
program involves the Fire
Marshal’s office and the
Volunteer Fire Department.
New State-mandated building
codes and changes to Building
Fire Life Safety Codes were
implemented.
Residential developments at
Griswold Village and
Ballymeade are completed. New
construction has begun
including Rivertown Village
(60 units), Wyndemere (55
units), Walden Woods Country
Walk (180 units), First Town
Square condominiums (50
units), Woods View (17 units),
as well as several other
single family houses
throughout town.
Design
Services provided design and
construction contract
administration and inspection
services for projects valued
at more than $830,000.
Projects included the
Reconstruction of Elm Street,
traffic signal installations
at two locations and
construction of a left turn
lane on Day Hill Road.
Designs completed by town
staff included the

Street, replacement of
culverts at both Rainbow Road
and White Rock Drive and the
reconstruction of Batchelder
Road causeway. The second
annual report of the
Stormwater Management Plan was
prepared and submitted to the
Department of Environmental
Protection. The town received
funding approval for the
construction of 4 bus stop
shelters throughout town. The
storm water outfall plans and
inventory of the town’s
drainage system was completed
and the inventory and
condition assessment of
pavements, sidewalks, and
drainage systems continued.
Engineering design reviews
were conducted for the
shopping center near Exit 38,
the Walgreen major
distribution center, the ING
office building, a large
residential subdivision, and
numerous other facilities.
