Facility Reuse Study
Windsor
residents are invited to a second community workshop regarding the development of
a Town of Windsor Facility Use Study. It will be held from 7:00 PM to
9:00 PM on Wednesday, February 15 in the cafeteria at Windsor High School.
What’s a Facility Use Study?
A Facility Use Study helps us determine how we are using town buildings
and if they are adequate for our present and future needs. This particular
study takes two previous studies, one for the Senior Center at L.P. Wilson
and one for all-day kindergarten, and combines them with a mix of other
buildings that could be impacted/utilized for several different uses. It
will then match these buildings or new buildings with programs for
seniors, recreation and Milo Peck programs. This will help ensure
appropriate uses for town buildings and will include several different
scenarios ranging from “do nothing concept” to adding new buildings to our
inventory.
The workshop will include breakout sessions that will allow participants,
meeting in small groups, to give their opinions and provide feedback on
how we are, and how we might, utilize our public buildings. Students and
young users of the town’s facilities are encouraged to attend and will be
included in the breakout sessions. Everyone’s opinion has value!
Windsor Public Building Commission has selected Drummey Rosane Anderson,
Inc., an architecture and planning design firm with an office in Windsor,
to prepare the study. They are continuing to evaluate the
programming and building evaluation and will be ready to hear a additional
feedback at the second Community Workshop on the night of February 15.
In addition, an
informational meeting has also been scheduled for Wednesday, February 8,
2006 from 1:30 PM to 2:30 PM at the Senior Center located in the L.P.
Wilson Community Center, 599 Matianuck Avenue.
