The Town of Windsor is accepting applications for full-time and part-time 'anticipated' winter/spring school break and summer (May - August 2010) positions as listed below. Successful candidate(s) will be subject to the Town of Windsor background screening process, which includes a criminal background check for candidates 18 years of age or older, a motor vehicle history check if required for the position, and/or a pre-employment drug screen. Anticipated Job Openings

Arts & Crafts Specialist:

Working with the director and camp counselors to educate and inspire children ages 5-13. Ability to work in a team environment, creating safe and fun experiences for children. This person organizes and supervises craft activities, orders supplies, schedules craft times throughout the week, supervises the craft room, creates and implements meaningful craft projects for campers and offers general support as needed in all program areas. The specialist will develop and implement arts & crafts projects that relate to themes and age levels. Must be able to attend all staff meetings and trainings. Additional responsibilities include supervising during lunch and open swim. Candidates must have minimum of two years' experience in arts & crafts instruction in a similar program setting. Must be energetic, responsible, and dependable and have enthusiasm for art. Opportunity to attend weekly field trips that are fun and enthusiastic. Must be able to work June 17 through August 20, 2010. $11-$13.00 per hour, negotiable, depending on experience. All applicants must be at least 18 years of age and have graduated High School, and be certified in or willing to obtain CPR/AED & First Aid training prior to start of program.

Assistant Nature Day Camp Director:

Assists the Camp Director with staff training and staff supervision. Assists the camp staff in program development and evaluation. Attends to all staff Pre-K through grade 8 program support needs. Occasionally attends off-site trips and overnights. Applicants must be at least 21 years old and have at least one year of college experience and/or prior supervisory, teaching and environmental education experience. Starting date: June 21. Assistant Playground Director

Windsor Recreation Services is seeking a full time Summer Fun Playground Assistant Director for 5-13 year old Windsor children. Experience in a camp environment with strong leadership, administrative and program implementation skills, along with excellent communication skills required. Must have experience supervising staff (10-20) and dealing with 100-150 kids per week. An opportunity to plan day long fun trips around CT. Must be able to work from June 1-August 20, 2010. Salary $11-$13.00 per hour, negotiable, depending on experience. Environmental Education Intern:

Northwest Park & Nature Center, a 473-acre municipal park in Windsor, CT seeks an Environmental Education Intern during the summer 2010 season. This position focuses park projects, front desk management and assistance with Nature Day Camp as needed. Opportunities exist for completing special projects that align with student goals. The intern will assist with live animal care and upkeep. Applicants should have completed one year of study in environmental education, biology, natural science or a related field, and have a strong interest in natural history and teaching. Work hours are 8:30am-4:30pm, Wednesday-Saturday. Starting date: July 7. Ending Date: August 20. Wage: $8.30 -$9.25/hr. Closing date: May 7, 2010.

Lifeguard:

Windsor Recreation and Leisure Services seek seasonal full time summer lifeguards. The lifeguard will provide aquatic instruction in classes and programs based upon the guidelines and standard operating procedures set by the American Red Cross. Performing duties may include possible phone usage (talking/listening), greeting participants, verbal class instruction and equipment/pool setup. Requirements: Lifeguard certification/WSI preferred; previous aquatics program teaching experience; and, current CPR and First Aid Certification or willing to obtain. This position will focus on public nature walks and presentations, nature programs for day campers and a Friday evening campfire program.
