Day Hill Road Pavement Reclamation and Resurfacing

Location: Day Hill Road

Day Hill Road Pavment Reclamation and Resurfacing

It is proposed to reclaim and resurface a portion of Day Hill Road, from Blue Hills Avenue to the west Alstom Power driveway, in both the eastbound and westbound directions.  Day Hill Road was constructed in part during the 1970s, and except for repairs and some minor overlays has continued to serve the commercial and industrial developments in the Day Hill Corporate Area.  The pavement is showing signs of distress, and needs to be rehabilitated to support the ever increasing vehicular and heavy truck traffic.  This project reclaimed and overlayed approximately 1950 linear feet of 4 lane roadway.  New curbing and catch basin tops included.

Start Date : September 2009
Completion Date : November 2009
Cost : $658,524
Comments :

The contract was awarded to Spazzarini Construction, Inc., Windsor Locks.  To minimize traffic issues, most of the work, including the reclamation and paving was done at night.  At various times, traffic was driving on a packed gravel surface while this base material was being prepared for paving.
