Join us for a thrilling Outdoor Adventure Smorgasbord program designed for youth in grades 6 through 9. this adventure will begin each day at the 330 Windsor Avenue Community Center. Outdoor Adventure Smorgasbord will run June 23-27, July 7-11, and July 28-Aug. 1. Adventures include rock climbing, high and low ropes course elements, paddling the historic Farmington River, shoot balloons from a target 30 feet away, reel in a Bass, and much more.

Family Trips

Windsorland

It’s time to hit the road with Windsor Recreation and Leisure Services and travel to some of the most exciting destinations in New England. Family trips sponsored by The Windsor Recreation and Leisure Services have a reputation for being as varied as they are inexpensive and are known for a bus load of FUN.

 

Some great trips lined up are: Baseball trips to Yankee Stadium, Fenway Park and Camden Yards, Leisure Time in Boston or New York. Wee the graceful power of thoroughbreds running at Saratoga Race Course, Escape for the day at Martha’s Vineyard and enjoy over 4,000 animals at the Bronx Zoo. There are so many fantastic trips to choose from. So don’t miss out! Register early, space is limited.

Summer Camps

Northwest Park

Various summer camp programs are held around town. The most popular camps are the recreation summer fun playground and the Northwest Park nature camps. Northwest Park Summer Nature Camp is a great way for Pre-K to Grade 8 students to actively experience nature, science and agriculture while engaging in a wide variety of fun learning and traditional camp activities. Each week offers a new theme and many new activities. Grades 6-8 will also experience activities in team building, canoeing, backpacking, hiking, camping, and wilderness survival.

 

Summer Fun Playground is a great outdoor recreational summer camp for children 5-13 years of age and is held weekly at Windsor High School beginning Monday June 23 and running through Friday August 17. Send you child to Summer Fun Playground to participate in Sports, Arts & Crafts, Group Activities, Swimming, Weekly Fieldtrips, and much more. Extended hours are also available.

 

NEW!! Join our C.S.I. team with a special half-day summer camp full of science and fun! The scene is set for "The Case of the Crooked Camper!" It is up to the team of Camp Scene Investigators to follow the clues, gather evidence, and ultimately, identify the crook.

 

Throughout the week the team will; Collect evidence, examine fingerprints and foot castings, learn forensic techniques used by police, take photographs, interview suspects, and present their findings. Camp is held at Windsor High School August 11-15.

Youth Sports Camps

Special Needs Program

Windsor Recreation and Leisure Services offers a wide variety of Youth Sports Camps designed for children of all ability levels. Camp range from basic introductory level instruction all the way up to advanced level instruction. If your child is interested in sports, we offer baseball, basketball, flag football, lacrosse, tennis, and track & field camp opportunities.

Cirillo Summer Theatre 40th Anniversary

Cirillo Summer TheaterWindsor Recreation and Leisure Services Cirillo Theater program is celebrating its 40th anniversary year with the production of Les Miserables. This is an excellent opportunity for youth interested in the performing arts which provides opportunities for youth involvement in musical theatre productions with a strong emphasis on the learning process. We offer a community based program that highlights performance experience in conjunction with a curriculum which includes vocal coaching, dance training, and character study. It is a wonderful learning experience in all aspects of community theater, as well as a chance for social interaction.

 

The Cirillo Summer Theatre has two divisions, one for students who are 8 – 14 (Junior division), and students who are 11 – 23 (Senior division), but not limited to accepting younger students as casting requirements dictate. This coming summer, our junior division will produce Oliver Twist. The senior divisions production of Les Miserables will be held on August 1,2,7,8,9 all at 7:30pm and August 3 at 2:00pm. This show, as you know, has it all: a moving storyline, wonderful music, and thrilling dance numbers.
