Windsor Instructional Basketball League (WIBL)

WIBLYou like Basketball? We got basketball! The Windsor Recreation and Leisure Services Youth Basketball League is an instructional/recreational league open to all Windsor boys and girls grades 2nd thru 12th. Basic fundamentals and sportsmanship are stressed. Teams will practice once a week and play games on the weekends. Teams consist of 2nd and 3rd grade coed, 4th and 5th grade, 6th and 7th grade, 8th and 9th, 10th thru 12th grade, which are separated into boys and girls leagues. The season is from January through mid March. There are no playoffs. The cost is: $45 per participant. All participants must attend at least one clinic in December. Clinic schedule will be posted on the website at www.townofwindsorct.com or www.wibl.org. Space is limited, so register early. You may register at the recreation office, 599 Matianuck Avenue or online at www.townofwindsorct.com September 7 through December 3. There will be no registration taken at the clinics.

Fall Swim Lessons

Fall Swim LessonsSummer has come and gone. So don’t stop thinking about swim lessons. Windsor Recreation and Leisure Services will be offering those great American Red Cross lessons this Fall. Fall Swim Lesson registration begins September 16 at 8am online and at LP Wilson Community Center. The lessons begin on Saturday, October 16 and continue each Saturday (except for November 27) through December 11 at Windsor High School Indoor Pool. Lessons are $40.00 per child. Spaces are limited so do not miss out! Fall swim lesson schedule is below:

Middle School Extravaganza

Middle School ExtravaganzaWindsor Recreation & Leisure Services would like to remind you that the first Middle School Extravaganza of the school year will be held on Friday September 10, 2010. The extravaganza will feature an inflatable, along with movies, basketball & dodge ball, pizza & soda, and much more, all while you dance the night away to with our DJ playing your favorite songs. Don’t miss out on April’s excitement.

This program is only for Middle School Students that attend any Windsor Middle school or reside in Windsor. Don’t forget to register in advance by 5:00 p.m. September 10th, for only $10 online through this page or in the recreation office located at 599 Matianuck Ave. All at door registration will be $15. Romp & Learn

Romp & LearnLooking for a fun and exciting After-School program for you child? The Romp-N-Learn After-School program provides an array of exciting and stimulating activities for children in grades 1 -5. Daily activities include homework time, group games, teambuilding activities, sports, arts & crafts, adventure, science, and Wise kids a nationally publicized healthy lifestyle program. Plus each child receives a healthy snack to help them concentrate on having fun! Transportation from each Windsor Public Elementary School is provided. The program is held at the 330 Windsor Avenue Community Center, Monday – Friday, 3:00pm – 6:00pm. For more information on how your child can have fun and a little homework time each day after school, call the recreation office at 860-285-1990 or click the forms link and complete a Romp-N-Learn packet.

Adult Sports and Fitness Programs

Adult Sport and Fitness ProgramsWindsor Recreation and Leisure Services offers great fitness programs for all ages and fitness interest. If you are interested in exercise classes try joining one of our Cardio Blast, Cardio Kickboxing, Water Fitness, or Butts & Guts classes. If you are ready to find your groove come show your dance moves with: Adult Dance & Exercise or our newest class Zumba! For those who want to show their sporting talents, Adult Basketball and Volleyball, as well as Adult Golf Lessons are offered. .

Youth Services Bureau

Youth Services BureauThe Youth Services Bureau’s Youth Adventures After-School program is a great place for middle school youth to spend their after school hours Monday through Friday 2:45PM – 5:30PM while enjoying activities in a safe environment at the L. P. Wilson Center. Our Youth Center includes an art space, computer lab, foosball, ping pong and pool tables. Enrichment activities are offered in art, computer projects, hands on science discovery, nature, gardening, cooking, and outdoor games. Weekly field trips to the Windsor Public Library are offered and a monthly field trip to exciting places provides rewarding FUN and LEARNING for the young people. A highlight of our program is its service learning component in which the youth design and participate in a variety of community projects.
