How To Get Involved

"Volunteering is good for the heart and for the soul"
Steven Allen

America has a proud tradition of neighbor helping neighbor. People volunteer for many reasons:

  • Participate in the life of their communities
  • "Give something back"
  • Become active in the community
  • Meet new people and build new relationships
  • Learn new skills
  • Obtain service learning hours for school
  • Have fun!

Whatever your reason, the Recreation and Leisure Services Department has a number of volunteer opportunities for you to volunteer close to home. The success of many of our programs and events depends directly on the efforts of our volunteers.
You may volunteer as an individual, or with a friend. Groups such as scout troops, community groups, groups from places of worship, families and corporations are welcomed and encouraged!

What can I do?
You can choose from long term positions such as animal caretakers or Adopt-a-Park to volunteering at a one-day special event such as a festival. Others areas to volunteer your time with include children activities, sports and athletics, mentoring/tutoring and environmental project.  If you have others ideas on how you can help in the community, we would love to hear about it.
