Dog LicenseIf your dog is six months or older, state law requires that you obtain a license in the town where you reside. Newly obtained dogs must be licensed within thirty days of new ownership. When you arrive for your first license you must submit a current rabies vaccination certificate issued by your veterinarian. If necessary, you will also need to submit proof of the dog being spayed or neutered.
Monthly penalty applies for dogs registered after June 30th ($1.00 per month).
Sportsmen's LicenseA variety of sporting licenses are available throughout the year at the Town Clerk's Office.
Fishing licenses are required for anyone over 15 years old. Hunting and fishing guides are available when you purchase your license. Fees for Sporting License
Lost License
**Handicapped License - CGS Sec. 26-29b - provides a free hunting and/or fishing license to individuals who have permanently lost the use of a limb. These licenses are available at town clerk offices. Non-residents are eligible for this free license if their state provides the same privilege to Connecticut residents. Verification of the disability, signed by a licensed physician, must be presented. Trade Name CertificateAny person conducting business under any assumed name shall file a TRADE NAME CERTIFICATE in the town or city they are conducting and transacting business in.
The fee for filing a Trade Name Certificate in the Town Clerk's Office is $5.00. The Trade Name Certificate may also be notarized in the Clerk’s Office for an additional $2.00. For additional information please refer to the statute below:
CONNECTICUT GENERAL STATUTE CONCERNING TRADE NAMES:
(b) No person shall use, in any printed advertisement, an assumed or fictitious name for the conduct of such person's business that includes the name of any municipality in this state in such a manner as to suggest that such person's business is located in such municipality unless: (1) Such person's business is, in fact, located in such municipality; or (2) such person includes in any such printed advertisement the complete street address of the location from which such person's business is actually conducted, including the city or town and, if located outside of Connecticut, the state in which such person's business is located. This subsection shall not apply to the use of (A) any trademark or service mark registered under the laws of this state or under federal law, (B) any such name that, when applied to the goods or services of such person's business, is merely descriptive of them, or (C) any such name that is merely a surname. A violation of the provisions of this subsection by a person conducting business under an assumed or fictitious name that includes the name of a municipality in this state shall be deemed an unfair or deceptive trade practice under subsection (a) of section 42-110b. Nothing in this subsection shall be construed to impose any liability on any publisher that relies on the written assurances of a person placing such printed advertisement that such person has authority to use any such assumed or fictitious name.
Liquor LicenseEstablishments seeking to obtain a liquor license need to apply for one with the State Liquor Control Commission, which is a division of the CT Department of Consumer Protection. Once final approval of the liquor permit is issued by the Liquor Control Commission, the owner of the establishment must then record the permit in the Town Clerk’s Office.
