Town of Windsor Memorial Day Observances and Parade

Sage Park Middle School Teacher Will Preside as Parade Marshal

 

 



The Town of Windsor Public Celebrations Committee is proud to announce that the 2013 Memorial Day Parade Marshal is Windsor resident Dana Joseph Gagne, US Marine Corps. Memorial Day observances in Windsor will be held on Monday, May 27, 2013. Gagne served in Communications as a Field Radio Operator, Marksmanship Coach and Swim Instructor in the United States Marine Corps from 1993 - 1997. He was stationed at Camp Lejeune, North Carolina, Twenty-Nine Palms, California and Okinawa, Japan during that time. Gagne is a graduate of Windsor High School's Class of 1993 and has taught mathematics at Sage Park Middle School for ten years. He resides in Windsor with his wife and two children who attend Windsor Public Schools.

 

On May 27th a ceremony will be held at the Elm Grove Cemetery located in Poquonock beginning at 8:00 AM followed by a ceremony at Veteran's Cemetery at 9:00 AM. Following the ceremony at Veterans Cemetery, the Memorial Day Parade will proceed to Windsor Town Hall via Poquonock Avenue for the Parade Marshal's address. The parade usually arrives in the center of town between 9:45 AM and 10:00 AM. The 10:00 ceremony at town hall will include a special flag ceremony performed by members of Boy Scout Troop 149.

 

Any groups, including scout troops or youth sport teams wishing to march in the parade should meet at the corner of East and Pleasant Street between 8:30 AM and 8:45 AM to assemble.
