Meals-on-Wheels: Volunteers are asked
to deliver meals to homebound clients in the
morning, Monday through Friday, one day each
month. The delivery route takes approximately
1-2 hours. The volunteers have use of town cars
for this project. Volunteers may team up with a
friend for these deliveries. One volunteer would
drive and the other would deliver the meal to
the homebound client. The volunteers act as eyes
and ears of Senior Services and have an
opportunity to chat with the client and find out
how they are doing.
Medical Transportation Program:
Volunteers provide rides to medical appointments
in the greater Hartford area for elderly and
disabled residents. Hours are flexible and
volunteers can drive when it is convenient for
them. Town cars are available for this program.
Senior Center: Volunteers are needed
for a variety of tasks at the Senior Center
including office assistance, collating
newsletters, calling bingo, helping at special
events. Hours are flexible.
If you are interested in volunteering for any
of these programs or would like more
information, please call Millicent Gill at
285-1992.
The Senior Job Bank matches seniors with employers
who have job openings. We refer skilled, dependable
older workers, without fee, to area businesses when
these companies list their job needs with our free
service. The applicant’s skills are then matched, at
no charge, with an employer’s needs, and the senior
worker is placed directly on the employer’s payroll.
Positions may be temporary or permanent. Millicent
Gill handles our Job Bank. It is open Tuesday mornings
from 9:00AM to 1:00PM. People who are 55 years or
older and are seeking work should call Linda at
285-1992.
