The Senior Center
offers a wide variety of exercise classes to meet all of
your needs. Current information can be viewed in the
Senior Newsletter (go to Senior Center Home Page). Sign
up on-line or at the Windsor Senior Center. Call 285-1992
with questions. Here are just a few of our on-going
classes:
Adults In
Motion meets Tuesday and Thursday from 10:00 AM to
11:00 AM at the Senior Center. This exercise class
incorporates balance, stretching, walking and energetic
exercise. Participants can choose to exercise sitting in
chairs, if preferred. New participants always welcome.
Gentle Yoga
Class can help you lower your blood pressure and
increase circulation as well as increase your flexibility,
energy and stamina. You will also learn how to relax and
meditate. Class meets Thursdays from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM
at the Senior Center.
Tai
Chi
is a gentle yet powerful form of exercise that combines
fluid movements with energy circulation, breathing and
stretching techniques. Improve muscle tone, balance and
reduce stress. Classes are offered in a two-month session,
once a week on Fridays from 10:45 AM to 11:45 AM.
Walking Club
meets
every
Tuesday and Thursday morning at 9:00 AM at the Senior
Center to walk indoors, or during good weather at the Dog
Pound on Mechanic Street for a walk around Windsor Center
River Trail. Walkers total their miles, chart it on a map
and reach far away destinations. Free.
Water Fitness
meets twice a week, on Mondays and Wednesdays. There are
two sessions from which to choose 11:45 AM to 12:45, or
1:30 PM to 2:30 PM. Exercises are done in shallow water
and do not require swimming or putting the head under
water. This is a great exercise program for those with
arthritis. Classes are held at the Hilton Garden Inn
Hotel indoor pool on Day Hill Road throughout the year.
During the summer months, an additional Water Fitness
class is held at the Windsor High Indoor pool.
Young at Heart
exercise happens every Monday, Wednesday and Friday
from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM at the Senior Center. Improve the
health of your heart and lungs and keep your bones strong
with this on-going exercise program. Weights are
available for your use. Newcomers are welcome anytime.
Tap Dancing
– Thursdays from 1:00 PM to 3:00 PM. Join a group of
men and women who have been enjoying tap dancing on
Thursday afternoons. Work on routines and learn the steps
as you go. Free.
Line Dancing
– You won’t need a partner to join the line
dancers from 12:30 PM to 2:00 PM every Wednesday at the
Senior Center. New dancers welcome at any time. Free.
Square Dancing
– Thursdays from 1:15 PM to 3:15 PM from October to
May. Enjoy fast paced old fashioned square dancing. No
partner needed. Join anytime.
Setback –
the players gather at the Senior Center every
Tuesday and Thursday from 1:00 PM to 2:45 PM. Why not
join them? New participants always welcome. Free
Bridge –
happens every Tuesday from 10:00 AM to noon at the Senior
Center. New experienced participants always welcome. Free.
Pinochle –
is played Mondays from 2:30 PM to 4:30 PM at the Senior
Center. If you don’t know the game, someone will be glad
to help you learn. New participants always welcome. Free.
Card Party
– Watch our Windsor Seniors’ Newsletter for the dates of
our card parties, scheduled every other month on a Sunday
afternoon from 1:00 PM to 4:00 PM at the Senior Center.
The game will be Progressive Whist; refreshments are
available and prizes awarded.
Bingo
games are every Monday and Friday from 1:00 PM to 2:45 PM.
This is a popular activity but there’s always room for
one more at the Senior Center.
We also offer
special evening sessions of Bingo every other month from
6:30 PM to 8:30 PM. Come to the Senior Center as early as
5:00 PM to purchase your and enjoy some refreshments.

Widow/Widower/Singles Social Group – meets every
Thursday from 10:30 AM to 11:30 AM at the Senior Center.
All widows, widowers or anyone age 60+ who is on their own
and interested in getting out to socialize and have fun
are welcome. You’ll never feel alone because there are
others like you. A comfortable place to make new friends.
Free.
ROLEO Club
(Retired Old Ladies Eating Out) – offers women, age 55 or
older, an opportunity to meet, converse on many topics,
and enjoy each other’s company. Meets the third Friday
each month at Friendly’s on Route 75 in Windsor Locks from
9:00 AM to 10:00 AM. This is an on-going club and
newcomers are welcome to join at any time.
ROMEO Club
(Retired Old Men Eating Out) – gives men age 55 or older
an opportunity to meet and enjoy each other’s company.
Meets at the Centre Coffee Bar, 20 Union Street, from 8:00
AM to 9:00 AM the second Friday of each month. This is an
on-going breakfast club and new members are welcome to
join at any time.
French Club
– for seniors who want to brush up on their conversational
French. Meets the first and third Fridays of each month
from 1:00 PM to 2:00 PM.
More Clubs and
Organizations – In addition to the above, many
senior-oriented groups meet at the Senior Center monthly
such as AARP, the Golden Fellowship, the
Red Hat Society and TOPS. See the

groups directly.
Quilters Club
– meets the second and fourth Wednesdays, from12:30 PM
to 2:30 PM, during the months of September through June.
All levels of experience or inexperience are welcome. The
group, the First Towne Quilters, shares new
techniques, exchanges quilting tips, and welcomes
ideas and suggestions to make this a fun club. Free.
