Who we are

The Department of Social Services can assist families during difficult times. The staff is friendly, knowledgeable and caring. All contacts are confidential. 

Social Services provides :




  • Casework and Support
  • Information and Referral
  • Food Bank, Diaper Closet, Mobile Foodshare, Groceries to Go, Weekend Wheels Backpack program
  • SNAP (Food Stamps) enrollment and renewal by appointment only
  • Medicare options counseling
  • Energy and Utility Assistance
  • Support groups for Diabetics, Share Groups and monthly informational events
  • Special holiday programs

 

Windsor Social Services coordinates a wide variety of volunteer opportunities and many of our programs are supported by Windsor C.A.R.E.S. and Windsor Food and Fuel Bank.

ANNOUNCEMENTS

 

CASEWORKER AT THE LIBRARY - Maggie Goodman, one of our caseworkers, will be available every Tuesday from 1:00 - 3:00 PM on the lower level of the Windsor Public Library main branch. Maggie will be happy to answer questions and provide resource information to people in need of assistance.

 

Diabetic Support Group. This group will meet on September 19th at 11:00 AM at the LP Wilson Community Center.

 

 

2017-2018 Weekend Wheels Backpack Program

Social Services will be taking applications for the 2017-2018 Weekend Wheels backpack program throughout the summer. This is a supplemental weekend food program that provides a backpack on wheels to elementary age children to bring home on Fridays filled with food and snack items.

WEEKEND WHEELS is currently hosting a book drive for new and gently used books.  Click Here to view informational flier.
