Who we are

Windsor Social Services is staffed with a team of professionally trained caseworkers and support staff who are available to work with you and your family in determining your particular needs and the services and programs that are available to you.

Social Services provides :







  • case management
  • eligibility screening for financial assistance programs
  • assessments for home care services
  • assistance in understanding insurance options
  • information and referral services
  • support groups
  • and educational opportunities to Windsor residents

 

Social Services also administers the Windsor Food Bank, the Windsor Fuel Bank, and Holiday Programs. Windsor Social Services coordinates a wide variety of volunteer opportunities and many of our programs are supported by Windsor C.A.R.E.S. and Windsor Food and Fuel Bank.

 SOCIAL SERVICES HAS A NEW COORDINATOR

The Social Services department is very pleased to announce that Sue Raggo has been hired in the position of Social Services Coordinator effective November 10th.  Sue has been working in the Social Services office since April 2012 when she was hired as our energy caseworker. She became a full time caseworker upon Peg Dagsher’s retirement, focusing on senior assistance issues.  Sue has an undergraduate degree in Social Work from St. Joseph University including a certificate in Gerontology and a graduate degree in Social Work Administration from Fordham University. We are thrilled to have her as our new leader.  Feel free to stop in to congratulate her!

 

 

Social Services's Newest Full Time Caseworker

We are happy to announce that Maggie Goodman (formerly Saunders) has been hired as a full time caseworker and will help existing clients here in the Social Services Department.  Maggie has been with us for a year and a half now and has been handling the energey assistance cases and client casework in the office.  Maggie has her bachelors degree in Social Work and she is a certified CHOICES counselor.

 

 

SPECIAL EVENTS 

 

 

SNAP Outreach Events, (formerly known as the food Stamp program).  A SNAP blitz event will be held twice a month to assist people in signing up for the program.  Click here see attached flier for days and times. 

   

CRT Energy Blitz.  If you missed the deadline for applying for CRT and you have purchased deliverable fuel this heating season between November 12, 2014 and March 16, 2015, you MAY be eligible to receive a credit from CRT applied toyour fuel vendor account.  You can also still apply for the matching payment program for gas or electric heat until May 1, 2015. 

 

You can schedule an appointment and complete an application by calling CRT at 860-560-5800.  When scheduling your appointment ask about the Windsor energy blitz.  

 

The Social Services Department is hosting a CRT ENERGY BLITZ on Monday, April 13th at the LP Wilson Community Center.  You need to contact CRT to schedule an appointment.
