Citizen’s Budget Workshop
A budget workshop for Windsor residents will be held Wednesday, December 6, 2006 from 7:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m. in the Town Hall Council Chambers. Dr. Feser and I will be hosting the workshop.

Our goal is to provide an informal setting for residents to learn more about Windsor’s budget process, the basics of formulating our budgets as well as the challenges faced when prioritizing budget allocations. The workshop will also include an opportunity for participants to contribute their thoughts and ideas in a discussion regarding the goals and challenges of preparing the fiscal year 2008 budget.

Pleasant Street Reconstruction
King Construction has completed all the paving including sidewalks, driveway aprons and 2 speed humps on Pleasant Street. Only minor yard restorations remain. Staff continues to prepare final plans and bid specifications for the final phase of work scheduled to be started this coming spring and summer. Our plans are to advertise and receive bids in February. Prior to awarding a contract the Town Council will be asked to approve the final budget authorization.

Citizen Survey Update
Data collection for the 2006 Citizen Survey is complete.  All completed surveys that were received by the November 13 deadline have been entered into the database, thanks to the assistance of several volunteers and a few staff members.  Staff is currently sorting and analyzing the data with the intent of presenting information to the Finance Committee on December 11th.

December Community Events
As a reminder, Windsor’s annual Carol Sing on the Green is scheduled for this Thursday, December 7th from 7:00 PM to 9:00 PM on the town green. In addition to the traditional holiday season song, a puppet show, the lighting of the lights and pictures with Santa will be featured.

The Torchlight Parade featuring decorated fire trucks and vehicles from local businesses and organizations will be held Saturday, December 9th in Windsor Center. The parade kicks off at 6:30 PM beginning at Remington Road and continuing down Broad Street. The parade will be followed by a bonfire with refreshments near the pond by the commuter parking lot on Mechanic Street.
