hors d’oeuvres and dessert. A $30.00 donation per person

Public Hearing
The
Wilson Deerfield Advisory Committee is holding a public
hearing to solicit input on the town's current community
development initiatives as well as suggestions for future
funding opportunities through the federal Community
Development Block Grant - Small Cities Program. The
hearing will be held in the Community Room at the Community
Center located at 330 Windsor Avenue on Wednesday, January
24, 2007 at 7:00 PM. Communities of less than 50,000
people compete for approx. $14,000,000 (annually)
administered through the Connecticut Department of Economic
and Community Development. In order to be eligible for
funding an activity must meet one of three national
objectives which include 1) benefit low/moderate income
persons, 2) eliminate slums and blight, or 3) meet an
immediate need for which no other funds are available.
Low/moderate income persons are defined as individuals
residing in a household where the household income is less
than 80% of the area median, adjusted for household size
(for instance -$53,650 for a household of three). In
the past the town has used Small Cities funds for
residential rehabilitation, down payment assistance, small
business loans, infrastructure improvements, community
facilities and public services. In addition to comment
from the general public, staff suggestions are welcome.
Anyone may attend the hearing and comment, or you may submit
written comment to the Office of Community Development.
For more information, contact the Community Development
Office at 285-1985.
Budget Workshop
A second
budget workshop for Windsor
residents will be held Tuesday, January 30, 2007 from 7:00
PM to 9:00 PM in the Town Hall Council Chambers located at
275 Broad Street. This past December, the identical
workshop was attended by approximately 30 residents.
As you may recall, this informal workshop is designed to
provide residents an opportunity to learn more about
Windsor’s budget process, the basics of formulating the town
and school’s budgets as well as the challenges faced when
prioritizing budget allocations. Dr. Feser and I also
look forward to discussing the thoughts and ideas of those
participating in the workshop regarding the goals and
challenges of preparing the fiscal year 2008 budget.
For more information call
285-1800.
