Beaver
Deceiver Solves Multiple Concerns
Town staff and
community volunteers completed the installation of a “beaver
deceiver” on Friday, November 30th on old River
Street. There have been ongoing concerns at this site by
both residents and town staff regarding the continuous
blocked drainage caused by beaver dams. The “beaver
deceiver” design allows for the water to continue running
without making sound and maintains a level of water the
beavers can be happy with, resulting in less dam building
activity.
This
cooperative effort is a win-win for all involved as the
residents wanted the beavers to stay, the Public Works
Department wanted the water to continuously drain properly
and the beaver’s habitat is preserved.
