Snow Removal Reminder

For our safety, the Town of Windsor Fire Marshal’s Office, Windsor Police and Volunteer Fire Companies would like to extend a reminder to residents to remove any accumulated snow from their sidewalks and/or fire hydrants adjacent to their property.

According to the town ordinance, the owner of any premises adjoining and fronting upon any public sidewalk or bike path should clear a minimum of a 4-foot wide path within 12 hours following a snowstorm.  If a snowstorm occurs during the night, the ordinance calls for the snow to be removed with 12 hours of sunrise.

If you have questions, or would like further information, call 285-1971.

Town Hall Holiday Schedule

Town offices will be closed Christmas Day, Tuesday, December 25th and New Year’s Day, Tuesday January 1st.  We will be open during regular business hours (8:00 AM to 5:00 PM) on both Christmas Eve and New Year’s Eve.

Winter Parking Rules

Windsor residents are reminded that between the dates of November 15 and April 15 there is no parking on Windsor streets between the hours of 1:00 AM and 6:00 AM.  In addition, there is no parking on any street during a snow or ice storm that has been in progress for one or more hour.  Residents are also asked to not leave their vehicles on the street in such a position that it impedes snowplowing operations or the free flow of traffic.  Following these simple winter guidelines will make it a safer winter for all.

Holiday Toy Drive is a Success

Thanks to the generosity of 44 local businesses, civic organizations and citizens, 119 Windsor families including 286 children benefited from this year’s Holiday Toy Drive.

Toys were collected at the Chamber of Commerce Holiday Breakfast and at the Safety Complex, and food baskets were donated by the Hoffman Car dealership.

Special thanks to United Trinity Methodist Church for allowing us to use space at the church once again this year and to Windsor Sanitation for providing a dumpster free of charge for the event.

Lastly, this project would not be possible if not for the volunteers who assist is assembling the boxes and sorting the toys.

More Holiday Giving

In addition to the toy drive, Windsor Social Services coordinated the distribution of 201 turkeys to Windsor families.  Approximately 70 families received  gift cards for local supermarkets for Thanksgiving and Christmas thanks to the generosity of Windsor Community Service Council.
