Risk Management Recognition

The town was recently notified by CIRMA (Connecticut Interlocal Risk Management Agency) that Windsor is one of 26 towns receiving a Risk Control Achievement Award for the 2005-2006 policy year.  Recognized for “New and Innovative Risk Control Initiatives,” and highlight risk control initiatives that result in savings on losses.  The award will be formally presented to the town on June 8, 2007. 

 
 

Valentine’s Day Tradition Continues at Town Hall

On Valentine’s Day, Wednesday, February 14, 2007 from 8:00 AM to 5:00 PM the Windsor Town Clerk’s Office will continue its 45-year tradition of offering free marriage licenses.  Civil Union licenses are also available free of charge on this day.  A photo identification is required.   Participating couples will also be eligible for a free drawing of assorted gifts from local merchants: Italian Corner Restaurant, Jordan Florist, Bill Selig Jewelers, The Water Closet Bath & Book, Windsor Center Fine Wines & Liquors, Snelgrove Florist, Cutting Edge, More Than Ice Cream, Whistle Stop Café and the Beanery.   For more information call 285-1902.
 

 

Windsor Conversations on Race

Embracing Diversity is this year’s theme for Windsor Conversations on Race.  A kick-off meeting is scheduled for this Wednesday, February 7th in the Town Hall Council Chambers from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM.  Judge E. Curtissa R. Cofield, Connecticut’s first female African American judge will be the keynote speaker.  A mock conversation will be held to allow participants to observe a group and learn what the process is all about.  4-week community discussion groups will begin on March 26th.  For more information, call 285-1984.

 
 

Tax Reduction and Benefit Guide Available for Seniors, Veterans and Disabled 

A Guide to Tax Reductions and Benefits Available to Qualified Windsor Residents is a pamphlet that describes a variety of exemptions and benefits available to individuals meeting the income and/or age guidelines as determined by the State of Connecticut regulations.  Information on the local tax relief program approved by the Windsor Town Council last year is also outlined in the publication.  Copies are available at the Assessors Office at Town Hall as well as the Senior Center, libraries and other town facilities.  To view the information online, go to the town’s website at www.townofwindsorct.com.  For more information, call the Assessor’s Office at 285-1816.
