Community Volunteers Bring Cheer to Others

On May 8, 17 Windsor C.A.R.E.S. volunteers and town Human Services staff baked, packed and delivered home-baked goods for 20 disabled residents and homebound seniors, Windsor Independent Living Association (WILA) and the Caring Connection.  The baked goods included treats such as cookies, brownies and cake.  An estimated 45 dozen baked goods, in all, were delivered and greatly appreciated by the residents that received them.

Memorial Day Observances

The Town of Windsor Memorial Day ceremonies will be held on Monday, May 28, 2007.   A ceremony will be held at the Elm Grove Cemetery located in Poquonock beginning at 8:00 AM followed by a ceremony at Veteran’s Cemetery at 9:00 AM.  Following the ceremony at Veteran’s Cemetery, the Memorial Day Parade will proceed to Town Hall for the Parade Marshall’s address.  The parade usually arrives in the center of town between 9:45 AM and 10:00 AM.

The 2007 Parade Marshall is Windsor resident Jeffery Ingram, who served as an Army Calvary Scout from 1989 to 1993.  Ingram served with the 3rd Infantry Division, 3/4 Cavalry in Germany and then the 24th Infantry Division, 2/4 Cavalry in Georgia until his honorable discharge in 1993.

Any groups, including scout troops or youth sport teams wishing to march in the parade should meet at the corner of East and Pleasant Street between 8:30 AM and 8:45 AM to assemble.

In case of rain, there will be one single ceremony in the Town Hall Council Chambers at 10:00 AM.   For more information call 285-1835.
