Volunteers Bring Cheer to Others
On May 8, 17 Windsor
C.A.R.E.S. volunteers and town Human Services staff baked,
packed and delivered home-baked goods for 20 disabled
residents and homebound seniors, Windsor Independent Living
Association (WILA) and the Caring Connection. The baked
goods included treats such as cookies, brownies and cake.
An estimated 45 dozen baked goods, in all, were delivered
and greatly appreciated by the residents that received them.
Memorial Day
Observances
The Town of Windsor Memorial Day
ceremonies will be held on Monday, May 28, 2007. A
ceremony will be held at the Elm Grove Cemetery located in
Poquonock beginning at 8:00 AM followed by a ceremony at
Veteran’s Cemetery at 9:00 AM. Following the ceremony at
Veteran’s Cemetery, the Memorial Day Parade will proceed to
Town Hall for the Parade Marshall’s address. The parade
usually arrives in the center of town between 9:45 AM and
10:00 AM.
The 2007 Parade
Marshall is Windsor resident Jeffery Ingram, who served as
an Army Calvary Scout from 1989 to 1993. Ingram served with
the 3rd Infantry Division, 3/4 Cavalry in Germany
and then the 24th Infantry Division, 2/4 Cavalry
in Georgia until his honorable discharge in 1993.
Any groups,
including scout troops or youth sport teams wishing to march
in the parade should meet at the corner of East and Pleasant
Street between 8:30 AM and 8:45 AM to assemble.
In case of rain,
there will be one single ceremony in the Town Hall Council
Chambers at 10:00 AM. For more information call 285-1835.
