State Approves
Funding for Exit 38 Design
I am pleased to
inform the Council that the State Bond Commission as
approved $3.75 million to initiate an environmental
assessment and design improvements for the I-91 and Exit 38
area. The so called “northbound flyover” from Day Hill Road
to northbound I-91 has long been planned and advocated by
both town officials and business community leaders. This is
the first step in the lengthy process of securing State and
Federal funding for actual construction.
I would also remind
Council there are numerous other efforts underway to help
plan for the future transportation needs of the Day Hill
corridor. These include: Route 305 Corridor Study,
Springfield to New Haven Commuter Rail, partnering with
Chamber of Commerce to promote the use of alternative means
of transportation, examining alternative land use options
for parts of Day Hill Road, as well as advocating with CT
Transit and CT Department of Transportation for improved
commuter bus service in the corridor.
