Cirillo Summer 2009 Theatre
It's talked about only in doctors' offices when a tiny cup is forced upon you by a squinty-eyed nurse who peers and announces for the waiting room to hear, "You need to "go" in here, put your name on the outside, and leave it on the sink." Now, Windsor's Cirillo Summer Theatre is taking that taboo subject matter and putting it on the stage with its upcoming, hilarious, Tony award winning show, Urinetown the Musical. The premise is simple. A futuristic town has suffered a 20-year drought, and in order to conserve water, a malevolent corporate giant, the Urine Good Company, has seized control of man's most basic right, banning private toilets and instituting a "pay to pee" policy. At Public Amenity #9, however, a hero emerges out of the downtrodden poor and a revolution begins.
Young people, ages 14 - 24, may audition for Urinetown on June 8, 9, and 11 and six public performances are scheduled to begin on August 7. For more information and to schedule an audition, see the Online Registration page of this website and call Artistic Director Susan J. Vinick at (860) 643-6446. |
