Looking & Listening: Bird Migration Hike (May 4)

Join master naturalist Brad Robinson for a Looking and Listening: Bird Migration Hike at Northwest Park. No birding experience necessary. May is the height of the annual bird migration north, and Northwest Park has a great variety of habitats for finding diverse species. Binoculars will be needed, so bring a pair if you have them. The park will have a limited number available to borrow. Sponsored by The Friends of Northwest Park.

Herpetology Hike (May 9)

Come out to the park and celebrate Amphibian Week with guided a Herp Hike. As the sun sets these creatures become active in our forests and ponds. Learn about the important role that animals such as frogs, toads, newts and salamanders play in our ecosystem. Discover our local herpetofauna and explore best practices when investigating their habitats and homes. Bring your camera! This is also a great opportunity to try and capture the perfect shot for our Photogenic Frog contest.

CT Trails Day Hike (June 1)

Join Northwest Park environmental educators to celebrate CT Trails Day and kick off our 2024 Northwest Park Trail Hike Challenge. Our interpreters will guide you along the Wetland Forest Trail to discuss the importance of wetlands in CT and how they influence the wild flora and fauna around them. The hike is about 1.5 miles.
